A 60 year old Bluefield woman Nellie Jane Hall died on arrival after her car collided head on with a truck on Virginia State Route 606 near Hollybrook. The driver Leonard James Hall was hospitalized with rib fractures and a leg laceration. Jackie Eugene Jackson of Bluefield drove the truck. The crash occurred about 12 40 p m with both vehicles going over an embankment. No charges yet filed as investigators review the scene. Funeral arrangements were incomplete at Mercer Funeral Home Bluefield.
Bernard R. Farmer president of Local 2276 CWA reports at midnight Saturday that the union has not informed the General Telephone Company of the Southeast of any strike plans. He says no word from Washington headquarters since Friday regarding attempts to set up meetings to negotiate.
