Rule on batted balls and Base on Contact in Pitching

A pitched ball that lands in front of home plate loses strike status unless the batsman swings and misses or fouls it. If the ball bounds over the plate high and does not contact the batter, it is a ball. If it then deflects to strike the batsman, the batter is entitled to first base. The pitch completes when it passes the batter. If the ball strikes the batter after pitching in front of the plate, the batter receives first base.
