Survivor from Rwanda to graduate shines in Seattle suburb
Candide Uwizeyimana, once hungry and separated from rescuers after fleeing Rwanda and Congo, will graduate June 14 from Shorecrest High School in Shoreline. Now 18, she overcame language barriers and hardship with foster care and support from Cameroonian rescuer Jean Damas. She plans college studies while working at Safeway.
