West Virginia GOP targets size of rainy day fund
West Virginia Republicans push to roll back the 10 percent reserve goal. Delegate Kelli Sobonya argues a 5 percent target could be sufficient and questions keeping reserves when police needs and unemployment funding loom. Gov. Manchin insists on caution and notes stimulus aid masking gaps. State reserves stood at about 475 million, down 76 million since the stock decline, with 26 million drawn to aid flood regions.
