NS rails washed out on Big Sandy

Westbound Norfolk Southern coal trains will be stalled or re routed for another day after a mainline track wash out along the Big Sandy River. Ground beneath both mainline and a siding gave way from heavy rains, with the river side track about 200 feet long and deep, the middle 150 feet, and the far track about 30 feet. NS said the tracks remain but out of service and traffic is being re routed. About 25 coal trains per day use the line between Bluefield and Portsmouth Ohio. No trains were on the tracks when the wash out occurred. Cyrus lies a few miles south of Kenova.
