Incumbent Kessinger Fends Off Rivals In Princeton Council Race
In Princeton the non partisan municipal election produced three at large council winners Donzie Kessinger former police officer Joe Vicars and Jerry Flanagan. Flanagan led with 335 votes followed by Kessinger 331 and Vicars 311. turnout was light with under 600 ballots cast. The vote totals in each ward are listed with Flanagan and Kessinger again leading in Ward I II and III while Vicars led in Ward IV. Voters approved annexation of Beckley Road by about 2 to 1 and rejected New Hope Road annexation by nearly 10 to 1. Beckley annexation extends city west to Bell Street including McDowell Lincoln and Booker Street. Mercer County Commission expected to approve in July. City Council canvass set for July 13.

Homer Ball and Margaret Ann Scott captured the town’s council seats as voting totals show Ball 158 Scott 149 with one write in vote. Bramwell reelected Don Murphy as mayor and O Bee Boothe won a sixth term in Oakvale.

A tanker loaded with 40,540 pounds of liquid polysite base resin overturned at Rogers Street and South Wickham Avenue in Princeton, closing the street until after 11 a.m. The driver Curtis Eugene McDaniel, 50, of Northport Alabama, escaped with a minor back cut. No spill or fire occurred, and evacuation was avoided after CT EMC guidance. the resin is ignitable and toxic if burned. Traffic was rerouted, and the resin was transferred to another tanker from Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
