New Investigation Opens in Deaths of Beckett Family
A new Wheeling grand jury began probing the Sept 29 1962 fire deaths of mother June Beckett and her three children in Elm Grove. Coroner’s jury earlier ruled three deaths were not fire related. Witnesses included Fire Chief William McFadden and Asst. State Fire Marshal E L Roush.

Settlement Reached In $15 000 Lawsuit in Princeton
The $15 000 damage action of Christine Damewood against Clarence B Mootz trading as Mootz Auto Parts and Elk Refining Co was settled in Mercer Circuit Court on March 5, 1962. Elk Refining Co, which filed a cross claim of $4,000, owned the tractor truck involved in the collision with Mootz wrecker. The crash damaged Damewood’s parked car on Thorn Street at Oliver Avenue. A divorce action was filed by Shirley June Brooks against Edward Luther Brooks.
