Amelia Earhart flying with navigator Capt. Fred Noonan completed a 1900 mile South Atlantic leg from Natal Brazil to St. Louis Senegal in about 13 hours 19 minutes. The 38 year old veteran flyer landed 163 miles from Dakar at 17 35 GMT while a route change kept her from reaching Dakar.

Ninth victim credited to mad head hunter in grisly find
Cleveland authorities announced the ninth victim of the so called mad head hunter. Coroner S R Gerber and Dr T Wingate identified lime corroded bones and a skull under a Cuyahoga river bridge as a 35 year old Black woman whose body had been expertly dismembered. The killer used lime to mask identity and left the bones in a deserted disposal spot similar to earlier cases. The first victim was found September 5 1934 on the Lake Erie shore.
