Congress Anxious to Quit Next Week
Washington June 7 A prospect of congressional adjournment next week grew as Democratic leaders urged President Roosevelt to trim the legislative program. The fate of the Wagner labor disputes bill hinges on the steel strike, with leaders hoping to defer both Wagner and housing bills to the next session while leaving the silver and deficiency bills and conference reports to finish. The plan calls for adjournment by June 16 if labor talks progress, with housing delayed and Wagner debated to aid steel workers, and Roosevelt leaving final decisions to party leaders after outlining his wishes.
