AP recounts the 1960s Haight Ashbury scene as the Summer of Love, detailing the crowding on Haight Street, LSD culture led by Owsley, the Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin performances, and landmark events like the Love Pageant Rally and the 1967 Human Be-In. It notes Time Man of the Year under 25, Berkely activists, and the Monterey Pop Festival launching the era.
