West Virginia Move Lets California Family Seek Quiet Life
The Mann family of Peterstown, aged 31 Corkie and Bill, relocate from California with three children after a murder nearby spurs a life change. They swap a high cost city lifestyle for a 16 acre Monroe County hilltop, plan tree clearing for power, and aim to raise animals and live off the land. Corkie pursues part time chiropractic work and portrait photography barter while Bill quits his computer operator job. They hope a calmer, neighborly community will replace urban strain and drug issues. The family sold their $86,000 home and hope for a simpler future as they settle into rural life in Monroe County.
