Bilbo System Sparks Democratic Mockery in Michigan
Drew Pearson notes the Senate’s voting method rests on the right to vote not Bilbo’s withholding. In Democratic cloak rooms two Michiganders are dubbed the Bilbos of Michigan for voting against seating Bilbo. The piece cites low attendance during rent control debates and remarks on Pepper and Taft, ending with Maine Senator White’s troubled recess attempt and Barkley’s quorum call.

Children Hurt In Fall From Train At Park
Ten Jackson fifth graders on a class picnic at the Toledo Zoological Park were injured when the locomotive on the children's train overturned at the mouth of a tunnel. The other two cars remained upright as operator Glen Symmes tried to stop the rocking. In Charleston a judge ordered Lester Clarence Pomeroy committed to Weston state hospital after a jury found him insane in the slaying of his brother in law.
