On Registration day at Matoaka J T Morris of Arista addressed a patriotic meeting. Six recruits were received into the regular army. Morris urged conscription as essential and urged buying bonds, arguing the Allies’ failures show voluntary service is insufficient. He tied defeat of tyranny to a hopeful postwar dawn and urged unity and humanity.
