Tidewater acquires water front property
Norfolk, Va June 6 The sale of B C Colonnas waterfront property twentyone acres yesterday to W Harry Brown of Pittsburg for more than 60000 shows the Tidewater railroad securing Norfolk and Southern assets. Tidewater held an option on the eastern branch of the Elizabeth river opposite Norfolk which expired when the railway deal was announced. The move gives Tidewater deep water at Sewalls Point and Cape Henry homes in Berkley and Norfolk rights over the Belt Line and blocks the Pennsylvania railroad from gaining deepwater and grain shipping facilities. Sewalls Point and Cape Henry lie closer to the ocean than Lambert’s Point piers and Tidewater now has terminal facilities and profitable business of its own.
