Methodist Women Plan District Workshop in Narrows
The District Women's Society of Christian Service meets at the home of Mrs. Dallas M. Hubbard in Tazewell with members from Narrows First United Methodist Church. Plans are made for a district workshop in Narrows the first Sunday in October and discussions cover the WSCS review and the possible merger forming United Methodist Women. Lakeland Chapter No. 74 Eastern Star set a 7:30 p.m. meeting at the Narrows Masonic Temple.

Phone Firm May Draw Fine For Poor Virginia Service
The Virginia State Corporation Commission ordered United Inter mountain Telephone Co to show cause why it should not be penalized for failing to provide adequate service to Southwest Virginia subscribers. A July 6 hearing was set to hear evidence on current quality and plans to fix deficiencies. The SCC directed a report on how complaints were addressed and on feasibility of county wide free calling and inter-county exchanges including Gate City Virginia to Kingsport Tennessee.
