Gateway to Halt Saturday Bus Service on Trial Basis
Gateway Regional Transit Authority votes to discontinue Saturday bus service on a trial basis starting July 1 due to insufficient weekend ridership and revenue. The move follows ridership of about 600 weekday riders system wide and 50 to 60 on Saturdays, with Bluefield Saturday service nearly extinct. Additional notes report loan payments pending, slight fare revenue gains with better weather, and May income figures for various routes. Attending were GRTA members plus Gateway attorney State Senator Odell Huffman.
