Court Rules On Liquor Sold On Bases
The Supreme Court ruled 7 to 2 that federal enclaves such as military bases shield liquor sold there from state taxation despite the 21st amendment. The decision stops at bases where the federal government has exclusive jurisdiction and involved Mississippi’s 17 to 20 percent wholesale liquor markup for service clubs.
