A four year study of 188000 men shows heavy cigarette smokers die seven to eight years earlier than non smokers. Regular smokers die of lung cancer ten times more than nonsmokers and smoking raises coronary death risk by about 70 percent. Quitting reduces risk. lighter smoking cuts life by two to three years.
