Steel magnates testify in big merger protest
Bethlehem and Youngstown Sheet and Tube executives, Eugene Grace and Charles Schwab, testified in Ohio court actions seeking to void a merger amid claims of improper proxy use and undisclosed salaries. Grace declined to discuss his compensation but said he would answer later if ordered. Schwab denied involvement in negotiations and noted limited stock voting discussions. George W. Joseph, Oregan gubernatorial candidate, faced disqualification by the state supreme court for alleged political influence on judicial decisions.
