Senior Companions weave ties of friendship in Tazewell County
A CVCA Senior Companion Program in Tazewell County links 60 plus volunteers with homebound seniors to sustain independence. Stories follow Katie Wynn and Helen Davis in a German church marriage memory, Margaret Rodriguez visiting her ill husband, Flora Jones cared for by Jessie McGuire, and May Belle Herald transporting clients daily. The program, federally funded through CNCS, operates across the nation with 240 affiliates and offers stipends, insurance, and training.
