Otho West son of Rev WW Weat a Baptist preacher, was shot and killed at Lester by GQ M Hawley. Hawley found West near his home, fired after West had taken Hawley’s pistol and resisted orders to leave. Hawley surrendered, waived examination, and was jailed in Beckley after bond offer was rejected.
