Clean the Bay day draws 6000 volunteers in Virginia
In its 25th event, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation reports more than 6,000 volunteers cleaned 500 miles of shoreline, removing about 125,000 pounds of litter by foot and boat. Containers of plastic, bags, cigarette butts led the haul, with an antique sink and a door to a safe among odd finds across 20 cities and state parks in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
