World powers offer Iran rewards or sanctions path
In Vienna six powers plus the EU outlined a package for Iran offering incentives if Tehran halts suspect nuclear activities and sanctions if it refuses. The plan, supported by the United States after a policy shift, aims to restart negotiations over Iran's uranium enrichment program while avoiding immediate Security Council actions. Talks include US Britain France Germany Russia and China with Russia and China holding vetoes at the UN. The ministers warned of “further steps” if Tehran does not engage and did not detail specific incentives or penalties.
