Bluefield police issued a warrant for a city man after he ignored a warning to remove restaurant equipment stored at a North Street residence. Lt. Joe Wilson checked the home Tuesday. the suspect was away. Officers continue seeking the man and will pursue arrest.
Physicians criticized the hospital board after CEO Dan Dunmyer’s contract was not renewed last Tuesday. They denounced the process as opaque and rushed, saying key staff were not informed. Dr. Hopper and others urged accountability while doctors demanded explanations and stability for patient care.
Board action follows debate over a substantial severance package for CEO Dunmyer as Tom Bay and Sandi Baxter push the motion with support from City Manager Freeman’s rep and hospital attorney Holroyd. Opponents Rana and Piracha vote no. Lilly and Mathena abstain, leaving a tense, partly shuffled roster and questions about agenda procedures.
