Tazewell considers 40 cent cigarette tax hike in budget
Tazewell County plans a 40 cent per pack cigarette tax increase to fund local pay raises for several locally funded public workers. A public hearing is set for tonight at 7 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors meeting room on Main Street. The measure would not affect other tobacco or vaping products and targets roughly $250,000 in revenue to help finance $1.15 million in additional local spending for teachers deputies clerks and related staff.
