West Virginia declares emergency as floods kill and injure
Gov. Wise expanded the emergency to Logan Mingo and Wyoming counties after a storm system drenched southern coal country with over four inches of rain. An elderly man died when swept away in Main Huff Creek area, while his wife was rescued in serious condition. A Mingo volunteer firefighter was injured when his boat overturned evacuating residents. Bridges washed out and 250 Wyoming County structures damaged as authorities assess the aftermath.
