AEP Wins Approval for 765kV Power Line Route in Virginia

The Virginia State Corporation Commission approves American Electric Power 765kV transmission line to run about 57 miles in Virginia from near Tazewell to the Jacksons Ferry area south of Pulaski. The line, already cleared in West Virginia since 1998, will pass through parts of Tazewell Bland and Wythe counties with limited Pulaski County impact. The SCC cites the need to reinforce the regional grid and notes the chosen route is 43 miles shorter with fewer homes affected and reduced environmental impact.
