New York stocks ended the session mostly lower with the Dow rising briefly into positive territory while the broader market slipped. Investors awaited upcoming economic data after Memorial Day as bond prices fell and the CRB index rose on higher grain prices. Chevron boosted the Dow while Intermagnetics General sank sharply on heavy volume.
