Patrolmen Hawkins and Iton report rain slick conditions and attempted rescue as driver E. E. Nuckols of Richlands says he traveled about 20 mph. A suit was brought against the driver last month.

Death Penalty Authorized for All Heroin Sellers

Bramwell Youth Drowns At City Reservoir After Swim
Robert Orey Jr. 15, son of Mr and Mrs Robert Orey of Bramwell, drowned at Bramwell City Reservoir after jumping in with two companions on the last day of school. Grey, unable to swim, sank at the deepest point. Judge Bramwell, a skin diving enthusiast, recovered the body in five minutes but revival efforts failed. The 22 foot deep, 200 by 400 foot reservoir had been used by boys despite fencing and posted warnings. The body was taken to Pocahontas Union Funeral Home for arrangements.

Mingo Youth Sentenced To Life For Murder
A 19 year old Naugatuck youth pleaded guilty to the shotgun slaying of Ray Parsley and was sentenced to life imprisonment by Circuit Judge C. W. Ferguson. Hours later he testified as a witness for both state and defense in the trial of Parsley’s widow on the same charge. Freeland Ruble, who interrupted his own trial to plead guilty, stood in the weeds as the judge pronounced sentence.
