Hollins Professor Discusses Education Systems at Rotary Talk
Dr. Herta Freitag of Hollins College compared US and Austrian education emphasizing character and citizenship in American schools. The Austrian system, she said, focused less on formal education for character, and she warned that had such training existed under Hitler Austria might not have fallen. Freitag, a Vienna native and Columbia alumna, spoke at the Bluefield Rotary Club meeting greeted by Charles Harrell. Aubrey Stowers led the program.
