Britain’s Trade Policy Aims Across Europe and Mediterrean
Britain’s approach to postwar policymaking centers on strengthening links from the Arctic to Africa and deepening economic ties with the Mediterranean and continental neighbors. Churchill’s policy review signals this aim amid US-Britain disagreements over axis and neutral steps, with Spain cited as a key example of nuanced balancing. Portugal’s commitments further complicate Britain’s cautious, case-by-case strategy.
