Forms of Modern Persecution in Jeremiah
The Jeremiahs tale shows princes urging death of a faithful prophet, highlighting weak governance and a king led by power. Ebed melech, an Ethiopian servant, boldly saves Jeremiah from a dungeon with courage and gentleness, illustrating moral strength amid political pressure.
Jeremiah Rescued From Dungeon by Ethiopian Aid
In a royal court scene Jeremiah is cast into Malchiah’s dungeon with mire and no water. Ebed-melech the Ethiopian warns the king’s men and ably descends with thirty men to pull Jeremiah to safety using old garments as padding under the cords. The prophet is removed to the prison court.
