Roanoke Va July 29 Charles Chafin the seventh of twenty six men indicted for rioting in the smashing of the Greek restaurants two weeks ago was found guilty in police court today fined 50 dollars and sentenced to twelve months in jail

A fifteen year old named Hawkins was riding a freight train when he fell between the cars for an unknown reason. The incident occurred near Richlands and Cedar Bluff as rescuers investigated the rider’s fall.
Bonnie Holly, fourteen, was violently assaulted Saturday at New River by Joseph Barker, brother-in-law and Radford Pipe Works employee. Barker was arrested by her enraged father, jailed in Radford then moved to Pulaski for trial. The Holly family is described as respectable despite Barker's poor reputation.
In Hopkinsville Kentucky Todd county scenes of night riders attack Al Guthrie and John Lockett an anti association man. Guthrie is blindfolded gagged bound and beaten with injuries possibly leading to blood poisoning. Nearby at Trenton twenty five masked men burn Otis Wilsons tobacco plants assault witnesses and fire pistols into a dwelling chasing two black women through a pond.
Cincinnati, July 29. Patrolman Carl Hauck was fatally shot by a gang member while attempting to disperse a troublesome west end crowd. Four shots were fired, two striking Hauck. He died at city hospital soon after. No arrests yet.
John Smith was arrested for attempted rape of May Jones eight, after meeting her and her sister in Figgian's Grove while berry picking. Lave Haines heard cries and helped. Smith held to avert grand jury action amid high excitement and potential mob justice.
