A 71 year old Mercer County man, Thomas Houston Hager of Duhring, faces trial in Mercer County Criminal Court for murder after an indictment on July 8. He is charged in the shotgun slaying of Lamah Turner, 56, at Turner’s Duhring residence last June, during which Bill Tillock, 40, also died. Crockett had been charged June 4 with shooting both men and staying with the bodies for two to three days before notifying a funeral home.

Virginian Coal Loadings Rise Despite National Strike
Virginian Railway coal car loadings climbed last week with over 800 more cars than the prior week and 1,200 above the 1958 level.
