British Episcopal pastor Irwin quits Miami after assault
Rev. Philip S. Irwin a British subject and pastor of a negro Episcopal church in Miami announced after a conference with clergymen local Legion officers and the British vice consul that he would leave the city at once. He had been tarred and feathered Sunday night and warned to depart but refused. A grand jury and Bishop Cameron Mann reviewed the case and cleared him of blame for alleged pro equality preaching and un patriotic statements. Irwin said he would go north.
