Roy Witten aged nineteen drowned while bathing in the Norfolk and Western dam at Falls Mills. Frank Carr, nearly lost himself trying to save him, recovered the lifeless body after diving to depths of sixteen feet. A large crowd watched as rescuers attempted revival. life ended at 5:30 pm. Funeral planned on Highland Avenue at 2:20 pm.
