Charles Donald Brummett, 28, of Box 36 Freeman, died at Bluefield hospital after a self inflicted gunshot wound. His body was found by family members who transported him to Bluefield Community Hospital around 7 23 p m Wednesday. Details were unavailable at press time and arrangements were pending at Cravens Shires Funeral Home Bluewell.
Bluefield police report a Dairy Queen on Cumberland Road robbed after closing Tuesday night of food products totaling 196.20. Four boxes of steaks at 29.10 each and four boxes of hamburger at 20.10 each were taken after closing at 11:30 p.m. The theft was discovered at about 8 a.m. Wednesday. Entry gained through a drive in window. Officer G W Sarver investigated.
In Lynn Massachusetts 63 year old Michael Popczuk, accused of aiding Nazi brutality, was found shot in his first floor apartment with a .22 rifle by his wife. He had denounced Justice Department charges seeking revocation of his citizenship. Police declined immediate comment.
Unidentified gunmen abducted Marta Elena Rios de Rivas, a 37 year old schoolteacher five months pregnant, a week earlier in Guatemala City. Interior Minister Ricardo Mendez Ruiz provided few details, saying only that she is a schoolteacher and five months pregnant. Police have no clues on the kidnappers and no contact has been made with the family.
