Sun exposure may help prevent several cancers, study suggests
Virginia researcher William Grant links geographic cancer death differences to sunlight exposure and vitamin D production. Skeptics cite lack of proof and note sun damage risks. Other studies hint at lower breast, ovarian, and colon cancer in sunny areas, but causation remains unproven.

Sanitary Board rate dispute highlighted by official
Objections from acting director Terry Honaker and Sanitary Board chairman Ron Crabtree challenge claims in a letter to the PSC by Spencer. Crabtree counters that Bluefield Virginia customers are 27.66 percent, not 40, and notes PSA is counted as one customer with low 30s discharge percent. He defends bulk rate as a descending usage based deal. Bluefield directors approved a 4 percent rate hike June 12 on a 3-2 vote. PSC ruling awaited before it takes effect.
