Mercer County reports five new COVID-19 cases amid rising infections
Five new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Mercer County pushing total cases to 44 with 30 active infections reported in the last two weeks. Health officials say four of the five cases are community transmission and one involved travel as the Fourth of July weekend approaches. All five are in quarantine.

Probable cause found in Mercer neglect case against Bluefield man
Mercer County magistrate ruled there is probable cause in the case of Doug Casey 58 charged with striking an incapacitated woman. Casey was arrested June 27 after a 911 call about a domestic incident at a home on Old Bramwell Road Bluefield Police Patrolman Copenhaver stated the victim, unable to move due to disability, was found in bed with a knot on her face and in her own feces.
