30000 Hens Freed In Cost Protest Hits Brittany

In Brittany France more than 30000 frightened hens roamed through Brest Morlaix and Landivision streets after egg producers freed poultry to protest low prices. Police captured many birds with 50 officers on the scene. Farm leader Yves Auffret said losses topped 1 million dollars in Brittany last year as overproduction and weak exports hit the industry. The federation aims to slaughter 2 to 3 million hens to lift prices, while government balks at paying transport and killing costs.

Beckley Teen Charged With Three Murders

A 16 year old boy in Beckley West Virginia was charged with three counts of first degree murder in the shooting and beating deaths of his parents Harold Ball and Betty Ball and brother Richard Ball. The slayings occurred at about 430 PM in their Dry Hill suburban home. A handgun and a baseball bat were used though exact causes of death remain undetermined. Bodies to be sent to the state medical examiner in South Charleston.
