The body of 100 year old John Phelps of War was moved from Fanning funeral home in Welch to Danville Virginia on Thursday. He died Wednesday in a Welch hospital. Born in Virginia he was a son of the late Jim and Mrs. Fhelps. He lived in Mc Dowell county for five years. Surviving are his wife Susie Phelps of Danville and a brother W B Phelps of Danville.

Welch Taxi Stand Broken Into Again in Welch West Virginia
In Welch West Virginia on January 24 the B and W Taxi stand next to the Hotel Carter was broken into for the second time in a week. A robber failed to take cash and a check worth 296.36 or was frightened away. The prior break robbed $72. Owner B C Hall Jr said the check was payable to the collector of internal revenue. Entry was gained by removing a back window.
