Kiwanians Hear School Official Shaping WV Education Needs

W R Pete Cooke administrative assistant to Mercer County schools spoke to the Princeton Athens Kiwanis on West Virginia school needs. He urged at least 8 million dollars from the legislature for Next biennium, outlined teacher salary gaps, and noted WV has 1600 under contract teachers with low prep, plus projected shortages. Mercer School Group Plans Zone Meetings Here

Everett Bailey and Clinton D. Lilly announce two zone meetings for teachers and principals to discuss proposed educational objectives of the current West Virginia legislature. The first meets Thursday at 7 30 p m in Mercer school auditorium Princeton. the second at Fairview junior high Bluefield on Friday January 26 at 7 30 p m. Attendees urged to participate.

Garfield Dudley Guilty of Assault and Battery in Bluefield

After a 1 hour 15 minute deliberation a Bluefield jury found Garfield Dudley of Goodwill guilty of assault and battery in the October 10 1950 maiming case against F G Greene. A motion to set aside the verdict will be heard February 5 before Judge F Morton Wagner.

Miss Geraldine Travasano entertained the Princeton Quota Club at the Virginian hotel with a weekly dinner conference. Slides showed Holland tulip fields and Alpine scenery as Mrs Lida Taliaferro led the meeting and read Quota International notices. Settlement in Injury Claim Involving Infant Lambert

An order in circuit court confirms a settlement of a personal injury claim by Violet Elizabeth Lambert as guardian for Richard Lambert an infant against Frances Carriker for 600 dollars. The incident occurred December 26, 1950 when Carriker's automobile struck the boy on Raleigh Street Bluefield, causing a fractured left femur and other injuries. Liability was denied by Carriker. The Rutherford case directs Edward Rutherford to appear January 29 at 10 am before Judge D M Bailey to show cause for failure to pay 56 dollars semi monthly to the plaintiff.
