Police Chief W. A. Tully stated the stolen vehicle would have prompted extensive glass damage. He said Pennsylvania license plates found on the car were reported to authorities.
Raymond Williams of Bluefield was sentenced to four years in Atlanta federal prison and fined 38200 after a federal jury found him guilty of possessing untaxed liquor. The first jury trial of the term also saw multiple defendants plead guilty or await next-term rulings on various untaxed liquor and counterfeit cases.

Doctors in St Petersburg were hopeful for full recovery as Col Thomas remained in good spirits during the recent weeks. Mrs Thomas has stayed strong as her husband recovers at Mound Park Hospital in nearby Cleveland.
Mercer county's retail grocers elected P. T. Saunders of Bluefield as president, succeeding Lee Wright, with a slate of officers and directors.
