Tazewell County man charged with animal cruelty in dog death
Matthew Don Blackwell, 32, of Creekside Road North Tazewell, Virginia, told deputies a CDC directive led him to strangle his infected dog. Deputies arrived January 8 after witnesses reported a man choking the animal. Blackwell admitted strangling the dog and led officers to a dead pit bull in a backyard trash can. A veterinarian confirmed the cause of death as strangulation.
