The Tazewell Study Club met Tuesday at Mrs. Marvin Gillespie’s home with Mrs. John Ellis Jackson presenting an Alaska talk. She described Alaska’s size, population, resources, and key cities while noting its active volcano and extremes in climate. The club also organized the March of Dimes drive with assignments for mailing lists, coin collections, student contributions, school fundraisers, and Girl Scout outreach. The Moose chapter held its first meeting of the year at Moose Hall with good attendance. Treasurer reports and chapter development updates were given. Special entertainment chair Annette Battalino reported on the Christmas party which will become an annual event themed Child Care. A contribution will be sent to Moose Heart Child Care and the College of Regents Administrative Fund. The group plans to attend the Mid-Winter Conference in Princeton January 25 at 1 30 p m. Red Stoles will be awarded to Betty Porterfield and Alice Treadway for four years service. Two new members were enrolled. Preparations for the conference ritual opening are underway with a special call meeting announced for later.
