VMI Elects Cadet Football Players to Athletic Council
Virginia Military Institute cadets elected two football players Jimmy Gill of Roanoke and Tommy Philips of Richmond as student members on the athletic council. They join Jim Cobb Blytheville and Jack Hutchinson Greensburg on the council, which also includes seven faculty and three alumni members. The council will meet Monday to consider head football coach applications after Arthur Morton’s resignation. Morton has joined Mississippi State, and he may push Clarence Strange for the coaches post.
