Court of Appeals Refuses Rehearings in Compensation Cases
Charleston W Va January 8 The court of claims opened its January term by reviewing renewal of compensation for former employees or heirs of workers injured while employed by the road commission. Awards have been approved by the attorney general. Cases include 52 per month for Jacob Bennett injured in a March 1934 dynamite explosion at the SRC 30 per month for Alice McClung whose husband died January 25 1936 and 5 per month for Lottie Skelton a minor daughter of a worker killed February 1935. Payments would cover the 1945 47 biennium and begun after legislative acts.

War Prisoner Breckenridge From Bluefield Reported POW
Private Herman W. Breckenridge son of Mrs. W. E. Ballou of Highland avenue Bluefield Virginia was reported missing in France since September 22 and is now a prisoner of war of Germany per a War Department telegram received yesterday. The provost marshal telegram gave no details but said a letter would follow. Breckenridge entered service December 1943 trained at Fort McClellan Alabama and went overseas January 1944. He is the brother of Mrs. Robert Chandler of Spring Garden Drive in this city.
