Unfortunate Market Time for Norfolk and Western Bonds

The history of Norfolk and Western 4 per cent convertible bonds shows a sharp decline after an underwritten issue failed to sell. The syndicate’s agreement ended December 31 with most holdings liquidated, four blocks totaling 35000 dollars selling at 80 to 79, then 79 for a small later sale. Some buyers emerged at 78 79 as holders seek to average down. The 34000000 dollar issue authorized in 1906 could be redeemed at 105 or converted to stock at holder option, with underwriters Guaranty Trust Company and Brown Brothers & Co. managing. Bonds issued June 1 1907. offering to shareholders in late 1906 yielded disappointing results.
