Mrs. Lambert reported yearly work, a business session outlined plans for the year, Mrs. J. C. led a Bible discussion on personal Christian faith, and a Sweet course was served. Mercer Airport Receives Snow Sweeper For Winter Work
Officials from Rish Equipment Co say a snow sweeper with an eight foot broom will be taken to Mercer Airport today for snow removal. The County Court arranged a trial, with machine operation to begin when snow falls, and the unit will be kept in the hangar until then. One company representative will train airport personnel on use of the sweeper.

A ten point stag jumped a turnpike fence and was struck by a vehicle on the right of way. The deer sustained broken front legs and ribs and was processed at the county jail as venison. The state trooper responded with a sidearm to end the animal’s suffering.

Allen Extradited In Murder Case
Thirty year old Theodore Allen was sent to Roanoke County Virginia to answer a murder charge for the December 5 beating of Frank LaBrie. Judge Walter W. Ross ordered extradition noting punishment should fit the crime. LaBrie died December 27 after severe injuries. A 19 year old housekeeper testified but Allen waived contest to extradition.

The Turnpike Commission will replace the Bluestone River bridge serving the Bluestone Gorge area. On April 9 1954 the state road commission informed the Princeton Chamber of Commerce that arrangements are in place and the bridge will be replaced very shortly at the expense of the Turnpike Commission.
