Bride Honored In Compliment To Mrs H Bernard Jarrett

A formal bridge party was hosted Thursday afternoon by Miss Anan Jarrett on Preston Street to honor a charming bride. Mrs A B Jarrett and Mrs R J Thompson greeted guests as four bridge tables competed for high and low prizes. A green and white color scheme adorned the decorations and a salad course was served.

Mrs Wilson's Circle Elects Officers at First Year Meeting

Mrs Wilson's Circle of the Woman's auxiliary at Trinity Methodist Church met Wednesday at 3 pm with ten members present and three visitors. Mrs Page Thornhill led devotional from Psalm 23 and opened with prayer. Officers elected included Mrs W H Wilson as chair, Mrs Thornhill as assistant chair, Mrs J C Harry secretary, Mrs Brasler Stowers treasurer, and several others for social service, flower fund, and mission study. The meeting ended with prayer and a salad social.

Pleasant Circle No 7 of the W M S met at Mrs J M Hoyds Halifax Street on Wednesday afternoon with Joint hostess Mrs J A Boyd. The group opened with a hymn and prayer and heard a devotional from Psalm 15. Mrs George Evans led an Albie study on The Teachings of Jesus in Human Relations. Officers were elected: Bible leader Mrs George Evans captain Mrs M T Montgomery secretary treasurer Mrs R D Harry social service and Mrs J A Boyd devotional and Penny collections. Refreshments followed the hostesses’ contributions.

Elsie Clor Circle of First Baptist Church held its first meeting of the year on Wednesday January 4 at Mrs Thornhills home with fourteen members present. The devotional was by Mrs Thornhill and officers for the year were elected. The circle was divided into two teams Silver and Polyaunas for a seating plan and business plans were discussed. Refreshments were served and the circle will meet again next month at Mrs Kaylor's home.

Mrs Easieys Circle of Trinity Methodist met for the January session with Mrs Will C Hasley hosting on College avenue. Officers for 1932 were appointed by the leader including Mrs C H Boster as assistant leader and others in charge. The circle split into two groups led by Mrs Wester and Mrs Easley and a year end entertaining plan was outlined. Refreshments were served during the social hour.

Circle 2 of the W M S met at Mrs Nichols on Frederick Street Wednesday afternoon with twelve members and two visitors. The gathering opened with prayers, featured a devotional by Mrs Nichola, and items from World Outlook presented by Mrs Clarence McClaugherty who was elected secretary. Roles assigned included Mrs Emma Boyd devotional, Mrs Karl Fyya treasurer, Mrs J R Littles social service, Mrs W W Sneed World Outlook agent, and team captains Mrs J B Gilpin and Mrs B Perry. The meeting closed with the Lord’s prayer and a social period with refreshments served by the host.

After a holiday visit with Tele- Hives at Marion Wa Yack Sanders returned to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. John H Cooke and wife came back from several weeks with daughter Mrs B Edward Wood in Miami Fla. Gladys Cash improves at St Luke's hospital after an operation last Saturday. Mrs J R Sprinkle of Welch is ill with influenza at the home of her parents Mr and Mrs A Boyle 120 Russell terrace. Mrs Boyle is recovering from a recent illness.

Mrs Dominic Pullano of Elkhorn Dies After Operation

Mrs Dominic Pullano of Elkhorn died yesterday morning at 9 o clock following an operation for appendicitis. She had been brought to Bluefield in critical condition Tuesday. Funeral and burial plans had not been announced. Surviving are her husband and eight children Mollie Ross Grace Mary Louise Virginia Hazel Angeline and Philip Pullano one brother Jos Capicanni of New York and her parents in Italy.
